Medical Power Of Attorney

The medical power of attorney that includes an advanced directive for health care (like a living will) is created to appoint an agent or agents to make medical decisions when the client is unable to make such decisions when under the care of medical professionals (e.g., doctors, nurses, etc.) and institutions (e.g., hospitals, rehab or therapy centers, clinics, laboratories, etc.). The powers granted remain in effect for a specified period of time, or, if there is no time limit, when the power of attorney is revoked in writing by the client, or upon the death of the client, granting the power of attorney.
